Re: Seen It, I Haven't

Finally saw it, I did.

When it comes to big summer blockbusters, I'm a late adopter. I have no interest in standing in lines and sitting in packed theaters in order to be in the first wave of people to see a movie.

Nevertheless I finally got around to seeing Star Wars: ROTS. The James Lileks review (see related post below) was great preparation in terms of expectations management. The reveiew was fun to re-read now that I've seen the movie.

Now I'm getting ready to be one of the last to see War of the Worlds and the new Batman film.

Confession: I love Star Wars. If George Lucas took the screenplay for Gigli and substituted the entire SW ensemble I'd see it without flinching. Maybe it's because my "impressionable" years were filled with everything Jedi. Toys, pajamas, beach towels, lunch pails; you name it I had it.

I do have my limits. You will never see me at a Star Wars convention wearing anything you couldn't find at your local GAP. But with all the critics thrashing the last two episodes, I wanted to stand up and represent the faithful few who can see past the stodgy acting and truly enjoy the message of the Force.

I do have one forecast though; Hayden Christiansen's career will be over faster than you can say "Mark Hamill."
