May 25, 2006Liberal Talk Radio on Life SupportAccording to the RadioEqualizer blog. . . "Air America Radio's acting CEO has been ordered to either cut millions from the bloated network's budget or condemn the left- wing talk radio experiment to the ash heap of history, the Radio Equalizer has exclusively learned." My Deep Thoughts: Of course, every attempt at liberal talk radio has failed miserably because these attempts have been built upon a deeply flawed assumption: Namely, that millions of listeners tune into Rush and Sean each week becuase they want to be told what to think. In reality, we tune in because Rush and Shaun are voicing ? often in an entertaining or validating way ? what we already think. Before Talk Radio fueled a resurgance of AM, if you were of a conservative bent, you never had your values or views validated through the media. Liberals dominated ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, NPR and CNN. On the contrary, your views were constantly attacked, mocked or, at minimum, ignored. With the exception of Fox News Channel, that continues to be the case today. Thus, liberal Americans don't need talk radio because they get their biases validated everytime they turn on the television ? and not just through the MSM news, but also through chat shows hosts like Oprah and The View; through comics like David Letterman and Jon Stewart; and through most television dramas and comedys.
